Liquid’s Winless Exit from Worlds 2023

Team Liquid Eliminated from Worlds 2023 Swiss Stage

Team Liquid has been eliminated from the Worlds 2023 Swiss stage after suffering a devastating loss against GAM Esports in the 0-2 bracket. Despite winning the second game in the best-of-three series, Liquid made numerous mistakes and lacked proper macro strategy, leading to their downfall in the first and third games. GAM Esports capitalized on these mistakes and secured their survival in the tournament.

Missed Opportunities and Domination

In the first game, Liquid had a small lead initially, but their decision to engage in fights exposed them to GAM Esports’ clinical counterattacks. This allowed GAM, led by Levi and his team, to take control of the game. However, Liquid managed to bounce back in the second game, thanks to defending world champion Pyosik’s impressive performance on his signature Kindred pick.

Unfortunately, the third game was a one-sided affair, with GAM dominating from the start. They targeted the top side of the map, feeding Kiaya’s K’Sante and Levi’s Wukong. With a strong early advantage, GAM’s players were able to support their teammates across the entire Summoner’s Rift, resulting in their complete supremacy.

End of the Road for Liquid’s Jungler

For Liquid’s jungler, Pyosik, the loss means he will not be able to defend his world championship title, as he is one of the first players to be eliminated from the Swiss stage. Despite the best efforts of Pyosik, Summit, and CoreJJ, the team’s rookies, APA and Yeon, were unable to deliver. However, considering that this was their international debut and they had little experience on such a high-pressure stage, they deserve recognition and respect for giving their all.

Upcoming Series

Next, Team BDS and Dplus KIA will face off, and one of these teams will join Liquid in exiting the Worlds 2023 Swiss stage on October 23.
