Liquid’s Shernfire: Facing TSM was a Unique Challenge

Team Liquid Secures Victory Against TSM in LCS Spring Split

Team Liquid had a rocky start to the 2020 LCS Spring Split, but they bounced back with an impressive win against TSM on Monday Night League. Despite facing visa issues that kept their superstar jungler, Mads “Broxah” Brock-Pederson, out of the starting lineup, Team Liquid showed resilience and determination.

With Broxah absent, Shern “Shernfire” Cherng Tai stepped in, shouldering the pressure to perform. While the 21-year-old Shernfire admitted that he is no stranger to pressure, he acknowledged that facing TSM brought a different level of intensity.

Reflecting on the match, Shernfire shared, “I think I’ve looked up to the brand of TSM for a long time and versing them was a different type of pressure. It was a mindset where I felt like I was a fan at points and I think that really messed with me, especially during the early game.”

Despite his struggles, Shernfire praised his teammates for their support and willingness to step up when needed. Nicolaj Jensen, the star mid laner, delivered an outstanding performance as Orianna, securing five kills and a crucial dragon late in the game.

Looking ahead to the next matchup against TSM, Shernfire aims to improve upon his performance. He also acknowledges the challenges of transitioning to North America and believes in his potential to be a valuable asset to the team.

As for the future, it remains uncertain whether Shernfire will start for Team Liquid in the following week or if Broxah’s visa issues will be resolved. Nevertheless, Shernfire remains determined to prove himself and secure a spot on the starting LCS roster.
