Liquid Secures Top Spot in 2022 LCS Spring Split with Decisive Win over TSM

Team Liquid Secures Top Spot in LCS Spring Split

Following their recent victory in the Lock In tournament, Team Liquid finds themselves at the summit of the 2022 LCS Spring Split, setting their sights on the upper bracket of the Mid-Season Showdown.

With a final triumph over a determined TSM, Liquid claims the number one seed in the LCS. Their highly talented roster has consistently showcased exceptional synergy week after week, surpassing every other team in the league. This impressive performance has once again ensured a top finish in the regular season for the organization.

Santorin’s Mastery of Viego Proves Crucial for Liquid

In a surprising turn of events, TSM displayed an aggressive playstyle in the seventh week, leading them to a perfect 2-0 weekend and challenging Liquid, the tournament leaders. Spica, TSM’s jungler, expertly seized control of the bot and mid lanes, forcing Liquid’s Santorin to focus on the bot lane to regain control of the game.

Fortunately, Santorin was able to pilot his signature champion, Viego, with remarkable proficiency. With an impressive 83% win rate on the Ruined King, Santorin fearlessly led his team into skirmishes, even in seemingly unfavorable situations.

A Hard-Fought Battle with TSM

The turning point came in a crucial bot lane fight led by Huni on Irelia, resulting in a successful Baron take for TSM. This pivotal moment brought them back into the game, overturning their disadvantage and granting them a substantial lead. However, Liquid’s Santorin, playing as Viego, repeatedly obtained resets and effectively turned the tides by utilizing TSM’s own composition against them.

Santorin’s outstanding performance in the final game of the regular season earned him the title of Player of the Game. With an impressive KDA of 7/2/11 and 81.8% kill participation, Santorin secured Liquid’s position as the number one seed with 14 wins and four losses. In a post-game interview with LeTigress, Santorin expressed the team’s relief in securing the top spot and acknowledged the progress of teams like 100 Thieves, which further fueled their determination to claim first place. He even apologized to Bjergsen for an early-game dive by Spica.

Looking Ahead to the Mid-Season Showdown

With their top seed secured, Liquid now eagerly awaits their opponents in the upper bracket of the Mid-Season Showdown, commencing this Saturday. Among the teams vying for the fourth seed, Evil Geniuses, Golden Guardians, and FlyQuest, Liquid will face the one that finishes the regular season in fourth place on Sunday.

Unfortunately, TSM finds themselves among the bottom four teams of the Spring Split, alongside CLG, Immortals, and Dignitas, failing to qualify for the playoffs. They will have a fresh start when the Summer Split begins later this year.
