Liquid dominates Cloud9 to secure a spot in the NA LCS semifinals

Cloud9 Falls to Team Liquid in 2018 Spring Split Quarterfinals

Cloud9’s impressive regular season has come to an end as they were defeated by Team Liquid in the 2018 Spring Split quarterfinals. Despite their strong performance throughout the regular split, Cloud9 was unable to secure a single win against Team Liquid.

Liquid Advances to Semifinals

Team Liquid’s victory in this series means they will move on to the semifinals next weekend. If TSM is victorious in their match against Clutch Gaming tomorrow, Liquid will face off against 100 Thieves. However, if TSM loses, Liquid will be up against Echo Fox.

A Close Series

Although Cloud9 did not secure any wins, each game was highly competitive. Team Liquid had to come back from deficits on multiple occasions. Cloud9’s ADC, Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi, showed an impressive performance and often carried the team. His Quadra Kill in game three gave Cloud9 a fighting chance. However, despite his outstanding performance, Sneaky was not able to outshine Liquid’s ADC, Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng, who ended the series with 15 kills and no deaths, earning him the series MVP title.

Cloud9’s Struggles

Cloud9 showcased some of the issues that have plagued them since week six of the regular season. Top laner Eric “Licorice” Ritchie struggled on tanks, leading to being outscaled in most matchups. Jungler Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen was caught out too many times in the enemy jungle, and mid laner Nicolaj Jensen was unable to support his jungler when it mattered the most.

In conclusion, Team Liquid’s dominance in this series proves that they are a formidable opponent. Whether they face Echo Fox or 100 Thieves in the next round, their competitors should be prepared for a tough battle.
