Licorice from Cloud9 shares his advice for mastering Sylas: “Embrace the chaos and play fearlessly”

Sylas Makes Strong Debut in LCS Victory

Sylas, after his lackluster performance in the LEC yesterday, made his debut in the LCS today with Cloud9 defeating their longtime rivals, TSM.

Cloud9’s top laner, Eric “Licorice” Ritchie, praised Sylas’ ultimate-stealing abilities in a post-game interview. He highlighted ultimates like Lissandra, Zilean, and Sion as game-changers in teamfights. While Licorice believes there is still room for improvement, his stellar performance as Sylas played a crucial role in the victory.

Licorice Overcomes Slow Start

Despite being the final pick in Cloud9’s draft, Licorice’s Sylas had a difficult start against the tanky Sion. Both Licorice and his teammates struggled in trades across the map.

TSM dominated the early game, with all three lanes having the advantage. With Sion leading the charge, TSM won multiple early teamfights, securing turrets and three Elemental Drakes, including two Infernals.

Sylas Unleashed in Mid-Game Teamfight

However, as Licorice purchased AP items and with the help of teammate Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi dealing significant damage as Ezreal, Licorice’s Sylas started to shine. With his low-cooldown hijack ability, Licorice stole several ultimates from TSM during a crucial mid-game teamfight. This not only secured the Baron for Cloud9 but also gave them the lead in the game.

From that point on, TSM struggled to counter Licorice’s Sylas and the array of stolen ultimates at his disposal. With the help of a couple of Barons and an Elder Drake, Cloud9 closed out the game.

Play Crazy and Go for It

In an advice for aspiring Sylas mains, Licorice emphasized the need to play aggressively and take risks. While feeling comfortable playing “crazy” in scrims, he acknowledged playing more cautiously on stage. However, he believes Sylas is a strong champion if players embrace their aggressive instincts.

Cloud9 is now tied for second place in the LCS with FlyQuest. Their next match is against Clutch Gaming on Feb. 10.
