Licorice declares himself the top top laner in the LCS upon joining Dignitas

LCS Veteran Licorice Returns to North American League

Licorice, a veteran of the LCS, is making a highly-anticipated return to the North American league for the upcoming split. In a video announcement by Dignitas, Licorice confidently declares himself as the “best top laner.” His previous performance in the LCS 2023 Summer Split backs up his claim, and he sees no reason why he can’t maintain his dominance this time around.

Licorice’s Remarkable Performance with Golden Guardians

Licorice played for the Golden Guardians for two years, during which he consistently delivered top-notch performances. Under his leadership, the team reached the finals of the LCS 2023 Spring Split but unfortunately fell short against Cloud9. Despite this setback, the Golden Guardians secured second place in the LCS 2023 Summer Split. However, their playoff performance was disappointing, leading to an unexpected exit from the LCS.

Throughout his career, Licorice has played for various LCS teams, including Cloud9, FlyQuest, and Golden Guardians. His success extends beyond the North American scene, as he has also showcased his skills in international competitions. Notably, Licorice won the 2020 LCS Spring Playoffs with Cloud9, among other prestigious titles.

Overcoming Challenges and Self-Doubt

Reflecting on his journey, Licorice shared valuable insights about his time with Cloud9 and FlyQuest. He described his experience with Cloud9 as relatively straightforward, with a focus on winning his lane for an easy game. In contrast, FlyQuest presented him with challenges where winning his lane didn’t necessarily translate into game-changing results. Licorice revealed that he faced periods of self-doubt during this phase of his esports career, but he eventually found his stride with Golden Guardians.

Joining Dignitas and Aiming for Worlds

Dignitas has enlisted Licorice to bolster their roster for the 2024 LCS Summer Split. As a seasoned player in the League of Legends esports scene, Licorice has yet to secure an international trophy. However, he is determined to change that with Dignitas and set his sights on qualifying for Worlds 2024.
