Ezreal and Leona Dominate the League of Legends World Championship
The League of Legends World Championship is nearing its conclusion on October 31st, and two champions have emerged as the top performers. Leona and Ezreal have been dominating the bot lane with a win rate of 60% or higher, according to Gamepedia.
In the main event of Worlds 2020, Leona has been the standout champion, winning 16 out of 21 games for an impressive 76% win rate. Ezreal, on the other hand, has won 12 games and lost only 7, resulting in a 63% win rate. It’s important to note that these statistics do not include the tournament’s play-in stage.
During the semifinals between G2 Esports and DAMWON Gaming, as well as Top Esports and Suning, Leona emerged victorious in all six of her games.
Leona is often paired with Ezreal, and her ability to tank, engage, crowd-control, skirmish, and create early-game advantages makes her one of the best supports in League of Legends, and possibly one of the best champions overall.
Leona’s flat damage reduction allows her to engage without facing punishment, her crowd-control abilities give her an advantage in the laning phase, and her ultimate ability gives her priority in the lane.
Ezreal is known for his weak laning phase, as he prefers to play passively and farm for the late game. However, when paired with Leona, he becomes a formidable force. Once both Leona and Ezreal reach level six, their ultimates, Solar Flare and Trueshot Barrage, deliver a significant burst of damage, often resulting in kills.
When playing together, Ezreal can safely farm behind his tower while Leona roams and exerts pressure across the map.
It remains uncertain whether Leona and Ezreal will play a role in the grand finals between Suning and DAMWON. However, with supports SwordArT and BeryL taking the spotlight in the finals of Worlds 2020, Leona is likely to be a strong contender.
The finals between Suning and DWG will take place at 5am CT on Saturday, October 31st.
