Legendary Support Mata Joins SK Telecom T1

SK Telecom T1 Adds Former KT Rolster Support Mata to Complete 2019 Super Team

SK Telecom T1, three-time world champions, have solidified their 2019 super team with the addition of former KT Rolster support player Cho “Mata” Se-hyeong. Mata, widely regarded as one of the best supports in professional League of Legends, joins SKT after a successful summer with KT.

During the 2018 LCK Summer Split, Mata and KT dominated the competition, securing the organization’s first domestic title in four years. Despite being one of the favorites to win the Summoner’s Cup, KT was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the World Championship by eventual champions, Invictus Gaming.

Mata will be joining a star-studded SKT lineup, which already includes top laner Kim “Khan” Dong-ha, AD carry Park “Teddy” Jin-seong, and the organization’s franchise mid laner, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok.

SKT Announces Addition of Former Jin Air Coach Fly

Alongside Mata, SK Telecom T1 has also announced the signing of former Jin Air Green Wings coach Kim “Fly” Sang-chul. Fly, who previously coached the now-defunct NA LCS team Phoenix1, returned to Korea at the beginning of 2018. He will be reuniting with Teddy, whom he coached throughout 2018 while on Jin Air.

With Fly’s arrival, SKT bids farewell to coaches Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong and Lee “PoohManDu” Jeong-hyeon. While PoohManDu is actively seeking coaching opportunities elsewhere, Bengi will take leave from esports to complete his mandatory military service.

SKT Rebuilds Roster after Challenging Season

SK Telecom T1’s major roster changes come after their worst competitive season in their League of Legends history. The team failed to qualify for the first domestic playoffs of the summer split.

With the addition of Mata, SKT is just one mid laner away from completing their 10-man roster.
