LEC Teams to Compete in Studio for 2021 Spring Split Playoffs

LEC Teams to Return to Stage Play for 2021 Spring Split Playoffs

After over a year of remote play due to COVID-19, LEC teams will finally be returning to the Riot Games studio in Berlin for the 2021 Spring Split playoffs. The league recently announced this exciting news, giving teams a safe opportunity to compete on stage once again.

The decision to hold the playoffs on stage is based on the fact that only two teams will be needed on-site at a time. This allows for easier implementation of security and cleanliness measures to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

Summer Split Returns to Online Play

While the Spring Split playoffs will take place on stage, the following Summer Split will return to online play. Having ten teams in one location poses a higher risk for staff and players. In the event that a player tests positive for COVID-19 during the postseason, their team will still be able to compete from their respective team facilities.

The LEC has no immediate plans to open the studio to fans or press. This cautious approach prioritizes the safety of everyone involved and reduces unnecessary health risks.

Exciting Postseason Run for LEC Rookies

With the last week of the 2021 LEC Spring Split regular season underway, fans can look forward to an exciting postseason run from many teams. This will be the first experience of on-stage play for many rookies, who have been competing from home. The bright lights and atmosphere of the studio create a whole new level of pressure.

The 2021 LEC Spring Split playoffs are set to begin on March 26.
