Nerfs and Buffs Coming with League of Legends Patch 12.20
Whenever a new patch for League of Legends is released, it’s expected that some of the most powerful picks in the current meta will be adjusted in some way.
Riot Phroxzon, lead designer on League’s balance team and preseason, has specified the nerfs that three champions will be receiving in Patch 12.20, which is set to release on Oct. 19. These champions have been dominating the Worlds meta and are currently the top two most played champions in the group stage.
Fans and players have been anticipating nerfs for Aatrox and Maokai, and they will finally get them in Patch 12.20.
Aatrox, known for his survivability and strength in both laning phase and team fights, will no longer passively heal 100 percent of the damage he deals. Instead, he will only heal 80 percent.
Maokai, who also has impressive self-healing abilities, will see a reduction in healing throughout all ranks of his passive. Additionally, his ultimate will have a longer cooldown at max rank.
Interestingly, Sett, who has been absent from the meta for a while but has been played as a support, will also receive nerfs in the top lane. His base magic resist and passive health regen will be slightly reduced, but the base AD ratio on his right punch will receive a small buff.
Lethal Tempo, an important keystone for marksman champions, is also being adjusted in this patch. It will no longer grant ranged champions extra range over melee champions. The bonus range is now capped at 50 for all champions.
Furthermore, the item Frozen Heart will be directly nerfed in Patch 12.20. It will cost 2,700 gold instead of 2,500 and the Rock Solid passive will now reduce damage by a base of five. However, it will provide players with more armor as compensation.
These nerfs and buffs are currently available for testing on the game’s PBE realm and are subject to change before being implemented on live servers.
