The tournament will kick off on September 25 and the winner will be crowned on October 31 at the Pudong Soccer Stadium in Shanghai. As a safety precaution due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all matches will take place in Shanghai.

- Play-in stage: September 25 to 30
- Group stage: October 3 to 6, October 8 to 11
- Quarterfinals: October 15 to 18
- Semifinals: October 24 to 25
- Finals: October 31
The World Championship will conclude earlier than usual this year, as it typically ends in mid-November. Fans speculate that this change in schedule may provide an advantage to Western teams, who have not won the World Championship since season one.
