League of Legends Players Propose Unorthodox Buff for Brand
Riot Games often buffs forgotten League of Legends champions by improving their base stats, damage output, or survivability. However, players have come up with a unique suggestion to buff Brand that doesn’t involve increasing numbers.
On Aug. 9, a Reddit post in the League of Legends subreddit suggested giving Brand Kog’Maw’s passive ability, which allows him to run into the enemy team and explode, dealing true damage.
“You’re an immobile, short-range mage who HAS to play aggressively and his design should lean into that more. You die, your body erupts in even more flames, then you explode in a fiery explosion,” explained one player.
In Patch 13.16, Brand is receiving buffs to his passive, Q, and E abilities. However, these buffs only increase his damage without adding anything else.
While this proposal may seem excessive, it actually aligns with Brand’s identity as an immobile mage with strong burst potential. Brand’s gameplay revolves around nuking the enemy team and dying, but he lacks the tools to survive bursty or highly mobile champions. Therefore, players want to cast their rotation and go out with a bang.
Brand’s Identity and Kog’Maw’s Passive
Considering Brand’s current identity, integrating Kog’Maw’s passive into his kit would make sense and embrace what the champion has become, rather than what Riot originally intended. Additionally, Kog’Maw could benefit from a rework since he feels outdated compared to champions like Zeri and Aphelios, and his passive doesn’t align with the theme of a hypercarry who needs to stay alive.
If you ask me, Riot should approach balancing champions in a more meaningful way, especially for forgotten characters. Simply adjusting numbers is no longer sufficient in the evolving landscape of the game.
