League of Legends players are once again embracing Skarner after a rework that was a long time coming

Skarner’s Rework: Player Appreciation

The rework of Skarner in League of Legends has been in the spotlight for three weeks now, and players are finally starting to embrace his new version. The discussion about the rework was sparked by a Reddit user on April 23, with players expressing how much they enjoy playing the new Skarner. Despite being considered a bit too strong in the current meta due to the buffs in League Patch 14.8, players are still having a blast with him.

One player shared their excitement by saying, “So I haven’t played LoL for 5 years. I used to be a Skarner main during that time. […] I decided to download LoL again. And wow, it’s a big improvement and feels so fun to play.” Another player echoed the sentiment by acknowledging that Skarner is overtuned at the moment but is undeniably enjoyable to play.

Skarner’s Transformation in Patch 14.7

Skarner’s rework in League Patch 14.7 completely revamped his kit and visuals, transforming him into a more suitable tank for the current meta. With engaging, poking, and crowd control abilities, Skarner has found his place in the game while retaining the essence of his ultimate skill.

Initially, Skarner struggled with some of the worst win rates in the jungle, but Riot Games took quick action to improve his performance. Through multiple buffs in Patch 14.7 and Patch 14.8, Skarner rose through the ranks and is now considered one of the strongest junglers in the meta. Players have even gone as far as labeling him as “really really OP.”

Upcoming Changes in Patch 14.9

For those tired of facing Skarner in every game or constantly banning him, relief is on the way. Riot has announced that Skarner will receive significant nerfs in Patch 14.9, set to be released on May 1. This adjustment aims to balance the champion’s strength and impact in the game.
