League of Legends Philippines confirms no personal data compromised in recent crypto-mining client breach

Garena has confirmed that the Philippines League of Legends client is now free from a cryptocurrency mining program that was discovered by players. The program, which had been inserted into the client’s lobby, used affected computers’ CPU resources for blockchain mining. However, Garena clarified that the program did not access any personal information on the computers. The security team successfully removed the threat from the client after 38 hours. Although some players claimed that the issue had been present for months, Garena stated that it had only started a few days ago. Players can now use the League client safely and should report any suspicious activity to Garena.
