League of Legends PBE introduces significant nerf to Teleport

Changes Coming to Teleport Spell in 2022

Riot Games is considering making significant changes to the Teleport spell in 2022. Currently a popular choice in the top and mid lanes, the spell may be nerfed to only allow teleportation to allied structures for the first 14 minutes of the game.

Details of the Proposed Teleport Nerf

The official description of the spell on the League of Legends Public Test Environment (PBE) showcases the potential changes: “After channeling for four seconds, teleports your champion to target allied structure. Upgrades to Unleashed Teleport at 14 minutes.”

Unleashed Teleport is the regular version of Teleport that players are accustomed to, allowing teleportation to allied structures, minions, wards, traps, and Zac’s passive bloblets.

Impact on Gameplay and Meta

If the proposed Teleport nerf is implemented in the 2022 preseason, it could have a significant impact on gameplay and the meta. Specifically, it would prevent champions, especially top laners, from punishing the bot lane during the early game. This change would provide players with more breathing room and slow down the overall pace of the game by putting a stop to early skirmishes. As a result, top laners may be forced to focus on farming for the first 14 minutes, reducing opportunities for creativity.

It is important to note that these changes are still tentative and may be reverted before the next patch goes live on December 22, 2021.
