League of Legends fans express dissatisfaction with the Sweetheart Rakan and Xayah skins

Riot Reveals Sweetheart Xayah and Rakan Skins for Valentine’s Day: Community Reacts

Riot recently unveiled the first post-release skins for Xayah and Rakan, called Sweetheart Xayah and Rakan, to celebrate Valentine’s Day. However, the community’s response has been surprisingly negative.

The criticism surrounding these skins has been quite vocal, with a Reddit post titled “No sugar coating, the Sweetheart Rakan & Xayah skins look like sh*t” receiving nearly 9,500 upvotes. Many players seem dissatisfied with these new additions to the Sweetheart skin collection.

Here are the new skins:

Xayah’s Sweetheart skin
Rakan’s Sweetheart skin

These skins follow the typical color scheme seen in past Sweetheart and Heartseeker skins, featuring shades of pink, purple, red, and gold. Despite their simplicity, players have expressed their disappointment with two key issues.

Firstly, some players feel that other champions deserve skins before Xayah and Rakan. They question why these two champions received a new skin so soon, while others like Kled are still waiting for an additional one. However, Riot has been actively releasing skins for champions in need, such as Cassiopeia, Singed, and Yorick, within the last six months. Complaining about this particular issue seems unfair, as Riot has the right to create skins for newly released champions.

The second complaint is regarding the color scheme of these Sweetheart skins. Some players argue that they deviate from the previous Sweetheart skins for Sona and Annie by using softer shades of red and purple instead of the usual contrasting gold and red. However, this line of criticism is similar to complaining that Star Guardian Ezreal is blue and white while Star Guardian Lux is pink. It simply doesn’t make much sense to demand the same color scheme for all the skins in a collection.

While Riot is open to constructive criticism, most of these complaints lack constructive elements. In the past, Riot has taken feedback from fans and made changes accordingly. It’s important to note that there are some constructive comments, such as one Reddit user who provided a solution and their own artwork to address the issues with Xayah’s skin.

Ultimately, it’s important to remember that if you don’t like a skin, you’re not obligated to buy it. Skins are cosmetic items, and if the design doesn’t appeal to you, it’s best to refrain from purchasing it.
