Riot Games has announced some exciting updates for the 2022 season of League of Legends. During the livestream, Jonathan “Bellissimoh” Belliss, product lead for personalization and events in League, shared details about the Mythic content, passes, and upcoming skins.
Returning Skin Lines: High Noon, Star Guardian, and Bees
In the upcoming year, Riot Games plans to revisit some popular skin lines. One of these is the “High Noon” line, which takes inspiration from the Wild West. The deserted setting and cowboy aesthetics make this skin line truly unique. So far, 18 champions have received skins from this line, each representing a cowboy, angel, devil, or creature.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Riot is bringing back the beloved Star Guardian line. These skins are set in a vast and dark universe, where the guardians protect the light of the stars. Despite their destiny to burn bright, they continue to fulfill their duty. The Star Guardian thematic has already made a comeback twice, with 14 skins released to date. Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the “real” Star Guardian Urgot.
Another skin line making a return in 2022 is “Bees!” This alternate universe transforms champions into little and joyful striped insects. The Bees skin line has gained popularity due to the buzzing sound of Beemos across the Rift. Among the champions receiving a yellow and black makeover, Orianna will be sporting a flower skirt and carrying the queen of the bees as her ball.
Coming Soon: Monster Tamers Skin Line
In the 2021 thematic poll voting, the “Monster Tamers” skin line ranked last. However, it will still be making its debut in the upcoming season. This bright and playful skin line features champions who harness powerful creatures and engage in high-stakes matches. While Crime City Nightmare and Debonair received more votes in the poll, Riot Games decided to bring the “Monster Tamers” universe to the Rift in 2022.
Release Date and Upcoming Skins
Riot Games has not yet announced the release date for these skin lines. However, players can anticipate the arrival of Firecrackers and Porcelain skins later this month.
