The Downfall of LMS: Is it Really Happening?
Is another competitive League of Legends region on the verge of collapse? According to Sung “Lilballz” Kuan-Po, a former pro player and LMS caster, the LMS may be shutting down next year. In a recent VOD review show, Lilballz jokingly mentioned the lack of match data for a recent LMS match, saying “doesn’t matter anyway, not gonna be an LMS next year.” Although it’s unclear if he was being serious or not, it wouldn’t be surprising considering that the LMS has been considered one of the weakest League regions in the world.
LMS caster Lilballz said on stream LMS is not gonna exist next year.

Over the past two years, many star players from the LMS, such as Huang “Maple” Yi-Tang, Hu “SwordArT” Shuo-Chieh, Yu “MMD” Li-Hong, and Hung “Karsa” Hao-Hsuan, have left the region. Most of them were part of Flash Wolves, the dominant team in the region, representing the LMS at overseas tournaments with varying success.
However, the LMS did not make a mark at international tournaments last year, lacking the talent to compete. The best team in the region, MAD Team, was utterly defeated at Worlds in 2018. With this in mind, the future looks grim for the LMS.
