LCS Spring Split Week 1’s Outstanding Team

The opening weekend of a League of Legends (LoL) region is always exciting. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the new iterations of their favorite teams in the LCS. The 2022 Lock In gave them a taste of what’s to come, but now every lineup in the league will have every player available and ready to compete.

Organizations like TSM, Cloud9, and Golden Guardians have finally taken the stage with their true starting rosters. Meanwhile, Team Dignitas, 100 Thieves, and Evil Geniuses are looking to build upon their success in January.

Starting the split on a high note is always a good sign for any team. It sets the tone regardless of the expectations placed on them. Here is ‘ Team of the Week for the first week of the 2022 LCS Spring Split.

FlyQuest Kumo

Smite supports making their way into the top lane of the LCS was inevitable. Kumo, FlyQuest’s top laner, displayed this strategy brilliantly against CLG and Golden Guardians.

Kumo is known for playing aggressive solo-carry champions like Gwen and Gangplank. So, seeing him play Janna and Karma was unexpected. However, it was exactly what FlyQuest needed to end the first weekend of the 2022 Spring Split undefeated. The extra layer of protection provided by Kumo from the top lane allowed the team’s carries to thrive.

Despite his low statistics after the weekend, Kumo’s proactive gameplay deserves attention. By being the first player in the LCS to employ this strategy, he showcased the profound meta changes in recent LoL history. Kumo’s contribution to FlyQuest’s success earns him the spot as the top laner of the week.

100T Closer

After 100 Thieves’ disappointing exit from the LCS Lock In playoffs, Closer’s performance has turned their luck around. He played a crucial role in the team’s 2-0 start.

Closer shined on Xin Zhao in two dominant victories against Team Liquid and CLG. He acted as one of the best lane enablers and teamfight junglers in the LCS. Closer leads among junglers in KDA and maintains an impressive damage output per minute. His jungle presence has helped 100 Thieves secure objectives like dragons, Heralds, and Barons.

Although Closer’s success on Xin Zhao may force him to diversify his champion pool in week two, he remains a key player for 100 Thieves to maintain their undefeated record.

Dignitas Blue

Dignitas has continued their strong performance from the 2022 LCS Lock In into the Spring Split. One notable addition to their roster is mid laner Blue, who had a disappointing debut in the LEC with SK Gaming. However, he has shown great improvement in the LCS.

Blue played crucial roles in Dignitas’ victories against Immortals and TSM. He displayed confidence and made daring plays, resulting in significant advantages for the team. Blue had impressive stats with nine kills and 12 assists without dying. He also had the second-highest average damage to champions per minute among LCS mid laners.

In week two, Blue will face a challenge against Evil Geniuses and their star mid laner prospect Jojopyun. This matchup will put Blue’s strength to the test and provide an opportunity for Dignitas to prove themselves.

100T FBI

Among the young AD carry players in the LCS, FBI had the strongest debut weekend of 2022. His league-leading KDA and high damage share helped carry 100 Thieves to a perfect 2-0 start.

Throughout the 2021 season, FBI shouldered a significant portion of 100 Thieves’ weight from the beginning. His impressive performance in the first weekend suggests that he will continue to be a key player for the team throughout the season.

Dignitas Biofrost

Biofrost exceeded expectations after returning to competitive play with Dignitas. He led all supports in the first week with an impressive KDA.

Biofrost’s early game presence was unrivaled, with a 100-percent first-blood participation rate and a high kill participation rate. He played a pivotal role in Dignitas’ success and helped challenge top LCS teams.

With a 2-0 record, Dignitas and Biofrost have been one of the biggest surprises of the 2022 season.
