LCS Spot Under Consideration: Team Impulse Contemplates Offers

A top North American League of Legends team is considering selling its spot in the premier competition

Team Impulse, which finished third in the 2015 Summer Split of the League Championship Series, is reportedly exploring its options for the 2016 season, including the possibility of selling the team. According to sources close to the organization, the team has received interest from at least one potential buyer. However, no decisions have been made yet and team manager Alex Gu declined to comment on the matter.

Background on Team Impulse

Team Impulse joined the League Championship Series prior to the 2015 Spring Split as a rebrand of their previous organization, LMQ. In the Spring Split, they finished fourth after losing to Team Solomid in the playoffs. Despite this, the team still had a chance to improve on their fourth-place finish in the Summer Split. However, their chances were diminished when their star mid laner, Xiaoweixiao, was banned from competing for six months due to elo boosting.

Uncertain future and lineup changes

The state of the team’s lineup heading into the 2016 season is uncertain, which could be a contributing factor to their consideration of selling the spot. With Xiaoweixiao back in China after serving his ban, the team recruited Austin “Gate” Yu to start in the playoffs. Gate had previously been playing in the support role, taking the place of Adrian “Adrian” Ma who stepped down citing a lack of confidence in his performance.

It remains to be seen what decisions Team Impulse will make regarding the future of the team. Stay tuned for updates.
