LCS: Ranking the Teams of the 2021 Summer Split, Week 6

2021 LCS Summer Split: Playoff Race Heats Up

The 2021 LCS Summer Split is almost over, and teams are vying for their spots in the playoffs. While the top-tier teams have secured their positions, there is still a fierce battle happening among the midsection teams in the LCS.

Keep in mind that the top-eight NA League of Legends teams will make the playoffs. This means even the weaker squads have something to play for in the remaining three weeks. Teams like CLG, who are currently in last place, are making roster changes in hopes of reaching the playoffs. Don’t count any team out just yet.

LCS Power Rankings After Six Weeks

Here are our power rankings for the LCS after six weeks of play in the 2021 Summer Split:

  • 1) 100 Thieves
  • 2) TSM
  • 3) Evil Geniuses (up +1)
  • 4) Team Liquid (up +1)
  • 5) Cloud9 (down -2)
  • 6) Dignitas
  • 7) Immortals
  • 8) FlyQuest (up +2)
  • 9) Golden Guardians
  • 10) CLG (down -2)

An Upcoming Challenger: 100 Thieves, TSM, Evil Geniuses

EG has seen 100 Thieves go on an eight-game winning streak and is now just two games away from first place. A significant reason for their success is their up-and-coming AD carry, Danny. Despite being a rookie, Danny has made a significant impact on the team with his impressive stats. He ranks second in damage per minute among all qualified LCS players. EG is facing Golden Guardians, FlyQuest, and Dignitas, which gives them a good chance to continue their winning streak.

TSM and 100 Thieves, who currently hold the top two spots in the league, have a relatively easier schedule this weekend. TSM will be playing against FlyQuest, Immortals, and Liquid, teams they have a combined 9-3 record against this year. 100 Thieves will be facing Dignitas, FlyQuest, and Liquid, who they have dominated with a combined record of 11-1.

Struggling to Succeed: Team Liquid, Cloud9, Dignitas

Liquid’s results have been affected by Santorin’s absence, making it difficult to measure the team’s true potential. While they were the last team to defeat Evil Geniuses before their winning streak, they lost to 100 Thieves, TSM, and Cloud9. Although they may struggle against the top teams in their current state, their raw talent suggests they will eventually find success.

Cloud9 and Dignitas have had expected results in terms of wins and losses. Fudge has been performing well, showcasing his potential in different champions. However, Cloud9’s bottom lane has not been at the same level as they were in the spring. As for Dignitas, they are starting to regain their form after a roster swap, but they still have a ceiling when it comes to achieving notable results in the LCS.

A Playoff Race to Watch: FlyQuest, Golden Guardians

FlyQuest has recently shown a turnaround, winning games with five Academy level players. They are technically part of the playoff race but are being outpaced by other teams in the league. Their upcoming match against Golden Guardians will be crucial in determining which team advances to the playoffs. FlyQuest has a strong young core that will play a significant role in their future success. They will need to make decisions regarding their roster for the offseason.

These are the key storylines to watch as the 2021 LCS Summer Split draws to a close. The race for the playoffs is heating up, and teams are battling it out for their chance to compete in the postseason.
