LCS Power Rankings: Week 5 of the 2020 Spring Split

LCS Standings Tight as Playoffs Approach

After five weeks, the LCS standings are getting intense. The competition is fierce, especially among the lower-ranked teams who are vying for playoff positions. With four teams tied at 4-6 and two more at 5-5, even a small shift could shake up the entire league.

LCS Power Rankings Reflect Consensus Among Voters

Our LCS power rankings saw a rare moment of agreement after week five of the Spring Split. Among five League voters, only one vote differed from the others, resulting in a surprising consensus. Out of a total of 50 votes, the rankings were almost identical.

Team Rankings and Standings

Take a look at how the teams were ranked by our voters:

RankTeamPointsRank Change
1)Cloud950
2)FlyQuest44
3)TSM41+1
4)Team Liquid35+1
5)Dignitas30+1
6)Immortals25-3
7)Evil Geniuses20+1
8)100 Thieves15+1
9)Golden Guardians10-2
10)CLG5

This level of agreement is both promising and dangerous. It sets the stage for a potentially unpredictable and exciting second half of the Spring Split.

Teams Struggling in the Lower Ranks

The teams currently at the bottom of the standings are 100 Thieves, Golden Guardians, and CLG. While 100 Thieves and Golden Guardians are still holding on to playoff positions, CLG’s performance with their new mid laner, Pobelter, has been disappointing. Despite his strong individual performance, CLG has failed to capitalize on their mid lane advantage.

Both 100 Thieves and Golden Guardians have faced setbacks due to the performance of their solo laners. Ryoma’s inability to control the map has been a significant issue for 100 Thieves, while Golden Guardians have struggled with Hauntzer’s losing matchups despite having a strong bot laner, FBI.

Teams Falling Behind

Dignitas, Immortals, and Evil Geniuses have also experienced a decline in their performance in recent weeks. Immortals’ initial success was expected to fade as other teams adjusted to their playstyle, and that’s precisely what has happened. Dignitas’ success heavily depends on the performance of their top laner, Huni, and Evil Geniuses have had both impressive wins and puzzling losses, making it difficult to assess their true potential.

Teams Holding Steady

Team Liquid continues to maintain their position in the power rankings, but their recent loss to Evil Geniuses exposed some weaknesses in their gameplay. Despite that, it would be surprising if they didn’t make it to the playoffs.

FlyQuest has impressed with their ability to close out games and even stage comebacks. TSM, with strong performances from Broken Blade and Bjergsen, remain a dangerous team. Both TSM and FlyQuest had a vote disagreement among our panel of voters, but they have proven themselves to be a part of the top tier of teams.

C9’s Dominance

Cloud9 continues to dominate the LCS. Their outstanding performances and cohesive teamwork have instilled hope in the region. However, it’s important to remember that the LCS has seen dominant teams in the past. Let’s wait and see how the rest of the split unfolds before declaring them historically great.
