LCS Outperforms LEC at Worlds 2022

League of Legends Worlds 2022: LCS Comes Out on Top in Head-to-Head Against LEC

The LCS may not have made it to the knockout stage of the 2022 League of Legends World Championship, but they did manage to outperform the LEC at the event.

Despite failing to qualify, LCS teams were able to secure a 5-3 record against LEC squads at Worlds 2022.

NA’s wins include Evil Geniuses’ 3-0 victory over MAD Lions in the play-ins, as well as Cloud9 and EG’s wins in the second week of the group stage against Fnatic and G2 Esports, respectively.

Europe, on the other hand, secured three wins with Fnatic beating EG in the play-ins and their win against C9 in the first week of the group stage. G2 also contributed with a win against EG in the groups.

Despite NA’s success in the head-to-head, only one Western team—Rogue—advanced to the knockout stage, finishing second in Group C.

Rogue’s quarterfinal opponent will be JD Gaming, the winners of Group B. If Rogue manages to defeat the LPL representatives, they will then face either T1 or Royal Never Give Up in the semifinals.

Worlds 2022 will continue on Thursday, Oct. 20 with the first quarterfinal match of the tournament.
