LCS Organization’s League Slot Sale Imminent: ‘It’s Only a Matter of Time’

Is an LCS Organization on the Verge of Selling its Spot? Rumors Suggest So

The 2023 LCS Championship is nearing its conclusion, but there may be another major development on the horizon. According to Daniel “dGon” Gonzales, a popular esports content creator, one North American League of Legends organization is rumored to have sold its slot in the league. In a recent episode of the Facecheck podcast with Nick “LS” De Cesare and Christian “IWDominate” Rivera, dGon revealed that he had received information from two separate sources, both corroborating the rumors. Although the organization’s identity remains unknown, it seems that its departure from the league is just a matter of time.

TSM Already Confirmed to Leave LCS, Looking to Compete in Another Region

Contrary to speculation, dGon clarified that the LCS organization selling its spot is not TSM. TSM has already announced that it will be leaving the league to compete in another top-tier region. It is widely believed that TSM’s next destination for the 2024 season and beyond will be the LPL.

Could Immortals Be on the Chopping Block?

Meanwhile, there are indications that Immortals, another LCS team, may be at risk of losing its place in the league. LS openly expressed his hope that Immortals would depart during the podcast. Since rejoining the LCS in 2020, Immortals has consistently performed poorly, finishing as a bottom-two team in five of the last eight splits. The recent departure of the team’s starting jungler, Shane “Kenvi” Espinoza, and three coaches further adds to the uncertainty surrounding Immortals.

Immortals Struggles to Grow Audience and Fan Base

In addition to its underperformance on the competitive front, Immortals has also struggled to grow its audience and fan base. The team has seen minimal follower growth on Twitter over the past year, and many of its YouTube videos have failed to reach even 500 views. As a result, Immortals could be a prime candidate for replacement in the LCS.

In the end, although dGon’s comments on the podcast have prompted speculation, the identity of the organization set to sell its spot in the LCS remains unknown.
