LCS Announces Honda as Exclusive In-Game Banner Partner

Riot Games Partners with Honda for League of Legends Banners

Riot Games has announced its partnership with Honda for the Summoner’s Rift arena banners in League of Legends. Honda banners will be visible in-game during the LCS Playoffs and the LCS Summer Finals on Sept. 5 and 6. These banners will be strategically located around Summoner’s Rift, including the player shop, Baron pit, and top-side inhibitor.

Honda’s Involvement in Esports

Despite being a non-endemic company, Honda has been making its presence felt in the esports industry. In August 2019, Honda partnered with Riot for a sponsorship deal that included the LCS MVP award, the LCS Scouting Grounds, and other branded content. Honda also partnered with Team Liquid in January 2019 and even created a Liquid-branded Honda Odyssey van.

New In-game Moment: “Honda Performance Play”

In addition to the banners, Riot will introduce a new in-game moment called the “Honda Performance Play.” This will highlight the memorable clutch moments in the race for the LCS Championship title.

Riot’s Emphasis on Traditional Sports Energy

Riot’s decision to partner with companies for Summoner’s Rift arena banners is in line with its goal of creating an environment that reflects the energy found in traditional sports. In traditional sports, companies frequently advertise within or around the playing field and on team uniforms.

The LCS Summer Playoffs will kick off on Aug. 13.
