LCS Analyst Azael highlights concerns about pro players’ mindset for 2020 Spring Split

The Importance of Taking the 2020 LCS Spring Split Seriously

There has been a growing belief in the League of Legends community that players won’t take the 2020 Spring Split seriously since it won’t affect their chances to go to Worlds. However, LCS caster Isaac “Azael” Cummings-Bentley disagrees with this idea.

“If you want to be the best in the world at something, it is so egotistical to think that you can not work hard, not try, and not actually be grinding at it to constantly improve, and still be the best,” Azael said on Travis Gafford’s podcast, Hotline League.

Azael Clarifies His Comments

Some people believed that Azael’s comments were directed at Team Liquid star Doublelift, who previously expressed a lack of motivation at the beginning of the split. However, Azael clarified on the League subreddit that his comments were actually a follow-up to his previous statement, emphasizing that the Spring Split does matter.

Doublelift Finds Motivation

Despite receiving criticism for his attitude towards the Spring Split, Doublelift said that his team’s recent struggles have given him a much-needed wake-up call. The pressure of being lower in the standings has motivated him to perform better.

Cloud9’s Dominance and Team Liquid’s Struggles

Currently, Cloud9 stands as the only consistent team in the LCS, winning every game this split. On the other hand, Team Liquid, who were expected to be stronger than last year, have been unable to find success even with the addition of Broxah to their lineup.

The 2020 LCS Spring Split will continue on Saturday, March 7.
