LCK team makes changes, releasing 4 players before 2023 season

Fredit BRION Makes Major Roster Changes after Disappointing LCK Summer Split

Fredit BRION, after finishing in ninth place in the 2022 LCK Summer Split, has decided to make significant changes to its roster for the upcoming season.

On Nov. 20, Fredit BRION officially released four players from this year’s roster. The organization has parted ways with top laners Choi “Sw0rd” Sung-won and Park “Morgan” Ru-han, mid laner Kim “Lava” Tae-hun, support Yu “Delight” Hwan-jung, and coach Kim “Kite” Yong-yeon, who was part of BRION’s Challengers League team.

This announcement was made on Twitter by KORIZON:

On the other hand, the organization has decided to retain head coach Choi “Edgar” Woo-beom and coach Lee “Drinker” Seung-hoo. Both coaches have extended their contracts until 2025, as reported by the Global Contract Database.

Currently, the only contracted player left from the 2022 roster is ADC player Park “Hena” Jeung-hwan. It appears that Fredit BRION is planning a major rebuild around him.

Since joining the LCK franchise in 2021, Fredit BRION has consistently placed near the bottom of the standings. The team’s best result was reaching the playoffs in the 2022 Spring Split with an 8-10 record.

Now that the free agency period has begun, Fredit BRION has the opportunity to build its new lineup. With numerous talented players available from the LCK and LCK Challengers League, it will be interesting to see if BRION opts for experienced veterans or up-and-coming talents.
