LCK Power Rankings: Week 6 of 2021 Summer Split

LCK Summer Split Playoff Race Intensifies

The LCK Summer Split playoff race is reaching its final stages as teams prepare for the most crucial games of the season. With just four weeks remaining in the regular season, every match counts as teams vie for a spot in the postseason and a chance to compete internationally.

Four Berths for the World Championship

It’s important to note that the LCK has been allocated four berths for the World Championship this year. This means that the top four teams from Korea will have the opportunity to showcase their skills on the global stage in September. The competition is heating up as teams strive to secure their position in the race to the World Championship.

Struggling to Hold On

DRX, KT Rolster, and Fredit BRION are facing an uphill battle as they try to secure a playoff spot. In order to have a chance, KT Rolster would need to win every remaining match, a challenging feat. Fredit BRION’s road is equally difficult, as they face strong opponents in their last few matches. They will need to win matches that are considered unlikely victories in order to make a playoff push.

Fighting to Squeak In

Liiv Sandbox and Hanwha Life are fighting for a sixth seed in the LCK playoff bracket. Hanwha Life has been inconsistent throughout the summer, particularly in the bottom lane. They need to improve their gameplay rapidly to have a chance at securing a playoff spot. Hanwha Life will have two winnable matches against KT Rolster and Fredit BRION this week, but any losses could seriously harm their chances of making it to the playoffs and Worlds.

A First Time for Everything

DWG KIA, T1, and Afreeca Freecs are all aiming to secure a World Championship berth. DWG KIA’s recent losses have dropped them out of the top two for the first time this year. They need to defeat T1 and Nongshim, fellow playoff contenders, to have a shot at defending their World Championship title. Afreeca Freecs also faces a challenging schedule, with matches against top teams Gen.G, T1, and DWG KIA. Their success against these teams will be crucial in determining their playoff and Worlds prospects.

Increasing Stock

Gen.G and Nongshim Red Force are currently leading the LCK. Gen.G has a favorable schedule, playing against Afreeca Freecs and Liiv Sandbox this week. Nongshim RedForce also has a relatively easier road ahead, with matches against bottom-five teams in the next few weeks. Their ultimate matchup against Gen.G will be a highly anticipated showdown if both teams remain tied at the end of the regular season.
