LCK announces offline return for 2021 Summer Split

The LCK Returns to In-Person Play for 2021 Summer Split

The highly anticipated LCK (League of Legends Champions Korea) is set to make a comeback to in-person play for the 2021 Summer Split. Last year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the league had to transition to an online format. However, according to LCK reporter Ashley Kang of Korizon, the upcoming split will take place at LoL Park in Seoul, South Korea, starting from June 9.

This news comes as a welcome change for fans, who will now have the opportunity to attend live matches at the stadium. Following the guidelines set by the South Korean government, LoL Park will initially allow a maximum of 40 fans, which is 10 percent of its total capacity, during the Summer Split.

In a tweet, Ashley Kang confirmed the official announcement made by LCK Global regarding the return to offline play at LoL Park. [Twitter Embed Link: https://twitter.com/AshleyKang/status/1399155452093427713]

In the previous Split, the LCK was the only major region not to host its Spring Split Finals in-person. The teams, DWG KIA and Gen.G, competed for the LCK trophy from their respective locations. In contrast, the LCS, LEC, and LPL all held their domestic finals from live venues.

It’s worth noting that some LCK players have already experienced playing on stage in recent months. Riot-hosted international events took place at in-person venues. Last season, DAMWON Gaming, DRX, and Gen.G represented LCK at the World Championship in Shanghai. DWG KIA also traveled to Iceland for the Mid-Season Invitational earlier this month.

The LCK Summer Split will kick off on June 9 with an exciting matchup between Fredit BRION and Liiv Sandbox.
