LCK: 2022 Spring Split Preseason Power Rankings

Korean Teams in LCK 2022 Spring Split: A Look at the Contenders

Last season, the LCK showcased its dominance in professional League of Legends by sending three teams to the World Championship semifinals. While they didn’t win the Summoner’s Cup, the LCK’s strength as a league was undeniable.

In 2022, Korea has once again assembled a roster of teams capable of making a mark on the international stage. But before we talk about potential champions, let’s examine how the Korean teams stack up against each other in the upcoming Spring Split.

Lot to Prove: Liiv Sandbox, Fredit Brion, Hanwha Life Esports

The offseason shuffle has left Liiv SANDBOX, Fredit Brion, and Hanwha Life Esports fighting for recognition. Hanwha Life lost key players Chovy and Deft, while Liiv SANDBOX made significant changes to its roster. Fredit Brion, on the other hand, aims to improve its standings by bringing back most of its 2021 lineup.

While rebuilding is likely on the horizon for these teams, they shouldn’t be underestimated. Fredit Brion, in particular, has a history of causing upsets, and if they can replicate that magic, they have the potential to spoil other teams’ plans in 2022.

On the Fence: KT Rolster, Kwangdong Freecs

KT Rolster and Kwangdong Freecs find themselves in the middle of the pack. While they may not have the star power of the top teams, they have the ability to surprise and compete with stronger opponents. These teams may not be championship contenders, but they won’t be pushovers either.

Genuine Threats: Nongshim RedForce, DRX

DRX and Nongshim RedForce may not have the strongest rosters, but they have talented players that can keep them in playoff contention throughout the year. DRX boasts an experienced bottom lane duo in Deft and BeryL, while Nongshim RedForce has added new firepower to its lineup with Bdd and Ghost.

Fresh off a Trip to Worlds: Gen.G, T1, DWG KIA

Gen.G, T1, and DWG KIA enter the 2022 season as the top contenders. With their strong rosters and past achievements, these three teams are expected to lead the way for Korea. T1’s young core is sticking together after a strong Worlds performance, while Gen.G has added legendary names to its roster. DWG KIA may have undergone changes, but they still have star players Canyon and ShowMaker, making them formidable opponents.

As the season progresses, expect these three teams to not only dominate in Korea but also make their mark on the international stage.
