LCK 2021 Spring Split Week 8 Power Rankings

2021 LCK Spring Split Playoff Race Gets Chaotic in the Last Two Weeks

The 2021 LCK Spring Split is drawing to a close with only two weeks left. At the beginning of the season, the LCK was an unpredictable league, with teams constantly shifting in our power rankings. However, things seemed to settle down, and Korea became one of the most consistent regions in professional League of Legends. But just when things were calming down, the bottom half of the LCK woke up and started challenging the top teams. As a result, the playoff race has become more uncertain than ever with little time left.

Currently, there is one playoff spot up for grabs, and five teams still have a chance to claim it. In addition to determining which teams will compete for the LCK title, the final two weeks of the Spring Split will decide the seeding for the postseason bracket.

This week, several important matches will shape the playoff picture. With so much at stake, we have attempted to provide some structure to the chaotic LCK playoff race.

Last Seed Longshots: Fredit BRION, Afreeca Freecs

Last week, we discussed Afreeca Freecs’ potential to make a playoff run. However, the team has suddenly fallen down the LCK ladder, going from a bubble team to one of the worst in the league. Although there is a chance for them to make a comeback, it’s unlikely given the tough schedule they face against playoff contenders like Liiv Sandbox and Nongshim RedForce. Fredit BRION, on the other hand, has shown flashes of brilliance and could still make a surprise appearance in the playoffs.

On the Cusp: KT Rolster, Nongshim RedForce, Liiv Sandbox

KT Rolster, who was once considered a favorite to secure the final playoff spot, has experienced a series of devastating losses that have diminished their chances. Their remaining schedule includes tough matches against Gen.G, Hanwha Life, and DWG, making it difficult for them to secure a playoff spot. However, Nongshim RedForce and Liiv Sandbox have more favorable schedules and could take advantage of the situation.

The Playoff Field: Gen.G, Hanwha Life, DRX, T1

Four teams, including Gen.G, Hanwha Life, DRX, and T1, have clinched playoff spots. However, the seeding is still up in the air, except for DWG KIA, who have locked in their spot as the top seed. The next two weeks will determine the final positions of these teams.

Clinched: DWG KIA

DWG KIA has secured first place in the LCK Spring Split and looks unbeatable. With three matches remaining, they have the opportunity to break records and finish the split with an exceptional record. DWG’s dominance raises questions about whether any foreign teams can challenge them in their quest for consecutive international titles.
