Kwon Transferred to FlyQuest’s Academy Team, JayJ Promoted to Starting Lineup

FlyQuest Support Kevin Kwon Moved to Academy Roster

FlyQuest support Kevin Kwon has been moved down to the team’s academy roster, as announced by FlyQuest General Manager Nick Phan on Twitter.

In Kwon’s place, FlyQuest will be starting their academy support player Juan “JayJ” Guibert. Phan explained in a tweet that they want to explore what JayJ brings to the starting squad now that he is fully healthy. This is the first time the team has discussed JayJ’s health, but Phan did not provide any further details.

Previously, Kwon played as a support for Team Liquid during the 2017 Summer Split. He did not play competitively during the 2018 Spring Split, but worked as a translator for TSM’s Korean coaching staff. While working as a translator, Kwon reached rank eight on the North American solo queue ladder.

On the other hand, JayJ has been FlyQuest Academy’s starting support player throughout the 2018 season. He helped his team win the Academy League’s inaugural split and was substituted into FlyQuest’s LCS roster twice during the Spring Split, but did not find success in those games.

FlyQuest is currently tied for last place in the NA LCS with Cloud9. Both teams have been experimenting with their 10-man rosters. FlyQuest achieved their first win of the Summer Split on Sunday against OpTic Gaming in a 40-minute game.

Tonight, Kwon will make his Academy League debut as FlyQuest Academy faces Clutch Gaming Academy and Team Liquid Academy.
