Kwangdong Freecs Advances to Semifinals in LCK Spring Playoffs

Kwangdong Freecs has secured a spot in the semifinals of the 2022 LCK Spring playoffs after a close 3-2 victory over DRX today.

The Freecs and DRX had similar results in the regular split, making this series highly anticipated by experts. Despite the Freecs being the underdogs due to their recent loss against DRX, they exceeded expectations with successful skirmishes, strong vision management, and well-executed flanks.

Both teams, however, displayed some critical flaws and made mistakes at crucial moments during this intense series.

In the post-match interview, bot laner Teddy revealed that the Freecs had limited preparation time after their tie-breaker series four days ago. As a result, they relied on their strengths and comfort picks to secure the win in this series.

Teddy was the standout player throughout the series, earning the MVP title in both the first and fifth games. He showcased consistent performance, even in their losses, with his impeccable positioning. Notably, Teddy stole an Infernal drake from DRX with Jinx’s ultimate, securing a crucial objective for his team in the last game.

The Freecs will face T1, the strongest team of the regular season, in the semifinals on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 3am CT.
