KT Rolster stays neck and neck with Griffin, triumphing over Gen.G

KT Rolster Takes Down Gen.G in LCK Summer Split

KT Rolster continues to dominate in the LCK as they secure a 2-0 victory against Gen.G.

With the start of the second round robin in the LCK Summer Split, Gen.G and KT were the teams to watch. Both teams had been performing exceptionally well against other top-ranking LCK teams, making them seem invincible.

KT showcased their strong early game and impressive teamfighting abilities, while Gen.G relied on their strategic mid-game macro play. This match would determine which playstyle would come out on top.

KT stuck to their game plan in the first match, drafting an early game composition with Jayce in the top lane. However, this pick falls off in the late game as opponents build health and resistance items.

Gen.G knew they had the better scaling team and focused on surviving KT’s early aggression while minimizing losses during laning phase. Their strategy succeeded, and they managed to reach the 30-minute mark.

However, Gen.G didn’t anticipate KT’s exceptional late game teamfighting skills. Despite having a weaker scaling composition, KT outperformed Gen.G in teamfights. Cho “Mata” Se-hyeong’s engages as Rakan, Song “Smeb” Kyung-ho’s flanks as Jayce, and Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu’s precision attacks overwhelmed Gen.G in five-versus-five clashes.

In the second match, KT drafted a scaling composition but tailored their champions to fit their aggressive playstyle. Their early itemization choices focused on the laning phase, which paid off with early solo kills. Even though they were behind in gold, Gen.G had no chance against KT once they secured the Baron.

With this victory, KT Rolster now sits in second place, just below Griffin in the standings. They have the same record as Gen.G and will face KINGZONE DragonX on July 26.
