KT Acquires Smeb and PawN, Renews Contract with Score

KT Rolster Signs Smeb and PawN, Re-signs Score for 2017 Squad

KT Rolster has made significant changes to its roster. The team has signed top laner Song “Smeb” Kyung-ho and mid laner Heo “PawN” Won-seok, while also re-signing jungler Go “Score” Dong-bin for their 2017 squad. This announcement comes from KT’s press release.

A Superteam in the Making?

There has been speculation about KT Rolster’s plans to build a superteam, and the addition of Smeb, PawN, and Score seems to confirm it. However, notable players like Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu and Cho “Mata” Se-hyeong are missing from the rumored roster.

Adding Strength to the Roster

Smeb, considered the best top laner in the world, has had a successful career with the ROX Tigers. In 2016, the team won the summer season of the LCK and was expected to win the World Championship. Unfortunately, they fell short in the semifinals. Now, with the Tigers disbanded, Smeb has joined KT Rolster.

PawN, a former member of Samsung White, was part of the roster that won the 2014 World Championship. Known as one of the best mid laners at that time, PawN later joined EDward Gaming in China, where they dominated the scene. Now, he is returning to Korea.

Score, widely regarded as the best jungler in the world in 2016, didn’t have the opportunity to play internationally due to KT Rolster’s regional defeats. Despite this, Score is still highly respected in the esports community.

Building a Korean Superteam

With the addition of Smeb, PawN, and Score, KT Rolster only needs to complete its duo lane. If the rumors are true, Deft and Mata will be the final pieces of the puzzle. This KT Rolster squad is being carefully assembled to rival SK Telecom T1’s dynasty.
