DAMWON Gaming Wins Epic League of Legends World Championship
In what could be hailed as one of the greatest League of Legends World Championship finals ever, DAMWON Gaming emerged victorious with a score of 3-1 against Suning.
It had been six years since a Korean and Chinese team faced off in a Worlds finals, and the LCK hadn’t secured a Worlds victory since 2017. However, DAMWON Gaming broke this streak and lifted the Summoner’s Cup.
Tense and Unconventional Battle
From the start, Suning brought an aggressive and unconventional playstyle, featuring picks like Wukong, Fiora, and Rengar. While DAMWON Gaming focused on objective-focused gameplay, Suning showed their intent to take the fight to their opponents.
Suning’s aggressive approach worked in their favor at times, with players like SofM and Bin standing out, the latter even achieving a pentakill. However, DAMWON Gaming’s superior map control proved to be too much for Suning. In the longest game of the tournament, DAMWON stretched Suning thin, securing a victory after 45 minutes of intense gameplay.

After both teams traded victories early in the series, DAMWON Gaming stepped up their gameplay, displaying precision and methodical strategies. They secured two decisive victories in games three and four, ultimately closing out the series.
During the final game, DWG adjusted their playstyle to focus more on teamfighting, matching Suning’s aggression and emerging victorious with a kill score of 24-7.
Triumphant Return for the LCK
With this victory, DAMWON Gaming has reached the pinnacle of professional League of Legends, bringing the LCK back to the top of the professional world. It is Korea’s first World Championship title in three years and their sixth title overall.
