Korean Player Dara Announces Retirement After a “Truly Frightening” Two Years

League of Legends Player Retires Due to Traumatic Experience

Jeon “Dara” Jeong-hoon, a former League of Legends player, has announced his retirement from pro play due to a traumatic experience with his former team, Team Rampage (now known as PENTAGRAM). According to a Kotaku report, the treatment Dara received from his former team was too much to bear, resulting in him being unable to play without feeling physically ill and having a broken spirit. As a result, he has decided to return to his home in South Korea for the foreseeable future.

Controversy Surrounding the Team

In February, Riot handed down penalties to PENTAGRAM after the team confiscated the foreign residence cards of its players. The team’s staff members, Nakamura Hiroki and Fujita Takuya, received a three-month ban, and the team itself faced a five-round punishment during the Spring Split. The confiscated cards were used to threaten and punish the players, according to Dara’s retirement announcement. However, Dara believes that Riot’s punishments were too light, as they did not have a significant impact on the team’s performance. Despite the controversy, PENTAGRAM still emerged as the winners of the split and is currently representing Japan at the Mid-Season Invitational.

Dara expressed his disappointment with the leniency of the punishments, stating that he didn’t want to be part of a world where such experiences could result in only a three-month penalty.
