Kingzone DragonX changes name to DragonX ahead of the 2020 LCK season.

Kingzone DragonX Rebrands as DragonX Ahead of 2020 Season

Former LCK powerhouse Kingzone DragonX has decided to undergo a rebranding before the start of the 2020 season. The organization will now be known as DragonX and has also introduced a new logo.

Up-and-Down Seasons for DragonX

DragonX’s performance in the past two years has been inconsistent. Although they won the LCK Spring Split over Afreeca Freecs in 2018, they faced defeat against China’s Royal Never Give Up at the Mid-Season Invitational. Since then, their results have been on a downward trajectory.

Uncertain Outlook for the Future

Last season, DragonX had their worst performance, finishing in seventh place with a 9-9 record and failing to qualify for Worlds after losing to DAMWON Gaming in the Regional Gauntlet. The organization now faces uncertainties as the contracts of their entire roster are still up in the air.

Additionally, talented mid laner Heo “PawN” Won-seok has announced his retirement due to his battle with obsessive-compulsive disorder. As a result, Yoo Nae-hyun has been playing as the substitute mid.

Contracts Expiring and Players Departing

As the contracts of DragonX’s players, including their most talented ones, are expiring on November 18th, the organization has to make significant changes to secure its position in the LCK for the upcoming year.
