DRX Wins League of Legends Worlds with the Right Mindset

DRX emerged as the champions of the League of Legends World Championship, and their top laner, Hwang “Kingen” Seong-hoon, revealed the crucial role their mentality played in their victory.

Enjoying the Moment

In a recent interview with Korizon, Kingen shared that DRX didn’t dwell on being one series away from becoming champions. Instead, they focused on embracing the moment and enjoying themselves.

Avoiding Tunnel Vision

According to Kingen, obsessing over winning the prize can distract you from your ultimate goal. He emphasized the importance of excluding such thoughts and maintaining a mindset solely focused on having fun, which was their team’s approach.

A Comeback Victory

DRX’s determination was evident in their battle against T1, as they trailed 2-1 after the initial three games. Despite the threat of T1 lifting the trophy, DRX stood strong and continued to give their best.

Kingen’s Stellar Performance

Kingen’s exceptional performance in games four and five was instrumental in DRX’s victory. Playing as Aatrox, he achieved a remarkable KDA of 5/0/5 and 6/3/6. His outstanding gameplay earned him the title of MVP for the finals.

Reflecting on his performance, Kingen described it as feeling “possessed” and playing “with a heart of a beast.” His immense drive and confidence were crucial in DRX’s triumph, emphasizing how his exceptional play contributed to them lifting the Summoner’s Cup.
