Kassadin and Malzahar’s lore updates unveil intriguing drama surrounding Kai’Sa’s arrival.

Kai’Sa Arrives in League of Legends with Patch 8.5

The highly anticipated arrival of Kai’Sa in League of Legends is just around the corner with the release of Patch 8.5 next week. And to welcome her, Riot is introducing some captivating lore.

Fresh, Dramatic Stories for Kassadin and Malzahar

The lore of two other champions, Kassadin and Malzahar, has been updated with new and intriguing narratives. These stories are filled with revenge, corruption, mysterious parents, and even religious cults, reminiscent of the plot twists in Game of Thrones.

The Connection between Kassadin, Malzahar, and Kai’Sa

Without giving away too many details, the purpose of these revamped lores is to establish connections between Kai’Sa and the other Void champions in the game. It’s becoming evident that Kassadin is Kai’Sa’s father, a theory that gained momentum when Kai’Sa’s interactions with other champions were introduced on the PBE.

Moreover, the lore suggests that Malzahar is a mysterious prophet and cult leader, responsible for the transformations of both Kai’Sa and Kassadin, as well as the demise of Kassadin’s wife.

A Sympathetic Yet Dangerous Villain

Interestingly, the story doesn’t portray Malzahar as a despicable villain. Instead, he is depicted as a sympathetic character with a tragic upbringing, similar to Loki from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, yearning for parental love. However, his path ultimately leads him to become a mass murderer, sacrificing innocent lives to the consuming Void. It becomes difficult to sympathize with him in the end.

Unless, of course, that’s your kind of thing. We won’t judge you (publicly).
