Kaori Steps in for Danny as EG’s ADC in LCS Championship Weekend

A New Addition to the LCS Champions

The reigning LCS champions are welcoming a new face to their lineup as they aim for their second consecutive title.

EG Academy ADC Kaori Steps In

After the surprising announcement that Danny is stepping down from the Evil Geniuses main roster to prioritize his mental health, the League of Legends team has revealed that EG Academy ADC Kaori will be filling in for him during the LCS Championship.

Kaori, who previously competed in the Turkish League scene, recently joined EG Academy. Throughout his time in the Turkish League, Kaori achieved great success with teams like SuperMassive Esports and Istanbul Wildcats, consistently reaching the top of the TCL ladder. This year, he made his debut in the NA Academy scene, playing alongside multi-year LCS veteran Smoothie.

EG Academy faced significant challenges throughout the year, finishing eighth in the Spring Split and ninth in the Summer Split. They failed to break into the top 10 in both Proving Grounds competitions. However, Kaori’s outstanding performance in the seasons of Champions Queue earned him recognition, with a recent 16th place finish in the Summer Season.

This upcoming weekend will mark Kaori’s first time competing on the LCS stage. EG will begin their fight in the LCS Championship against 100 Thieves in the lower bracket finals on Saturday, Sept. 10. If they advance, they will face Cloud9 in the finals the next day.

EG has already secured their spot at this year’s World Championship, alongside 100 Thieves and Cloud9. The teams’ seeding and group placement will be determined during the group draw show following the finals.
