K/DA’s League of Legends Music Video “POP/STARS” Achieves Over 100 Million YouTube Views

League of Legends’ “POP/STARS” music video reaches 100 million views on YouTube

The League of Legends music video for the song “POP/STARS,” sung by (G)I-DLE, Madison Beer, and Jaira Burns as the pop group K/DA, has achieved a major milestone by surpassing 100 million views on YouTube. The video hit this mark just one month after its initial release on November 3.

A worldwide smash hit

“POP/STARS” has become a worldwide sensation. Before reaching 100 million views on YouTube, the song claimed the number one spot on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart in November. The virtual performers in the video, who are League of Legends champions Akali, Kai’Sa, Evelynn, and Ahri, have gained immense popularity thanks to the infusion of K-pop in the anthem.

K/DA’s rise on the League of Legends YouTube page

“POP/STARS” has now become the second-most popular video on the League of Legends YouTube page, trailing only Imagine Dragons’ “Warriors” music video, which was released four years ago and currently has 190 million views. Given its rapid growth, it is likely that “POP/STARS” will claim the top spot on the page in the coming months. The next most popular video on the page is “Get Jinxed,” a music video released five years ago that has amassed 78 million views.

The secret behind K/DA’s success

According to Riot Games creative lead Viranda Tantula, K/DA’s success can be attributed to a combination of intentional planning and sheer luck. The music video and the entire concept of K/DA were ambitious projects that the Riot team was incredibly passionate about. Tantula also noted that the current musical landscape is conducive to breaking down regional boundaries and embracing new genres, like K-pop, on a global scale.
