Jatt Steps Down as Team Liquid’s LCS Head Coach, Santorin Temporarily Steps Away from Competition Due to Health Concerns

Team Liquid’s League of Legends Head Coach Resigns After One Season

The head coach of Team Liquid’s League of Legends squad, Joshua “Jatt” Leesman, has resigned from his position after one season with the organization, the team announced today.

Team Liquid expressed their gratitude towards Jatt for his work and dedication and wished him all the best in his future endeavors, as stated in an official statement.

Successful Turnaround and Recent Performance

Jatt joined Team Liquid as the head coach in May last year and achieved remarkable success by leading the team from ninth place in the LCS to the group stage of the World Championship within four months. The team’s performance during the Summer Split was widely recognized, earning them the Coaching Staff of the Split award.

However, in the current 2021 season, Team Liquid has fallen short of their previous achievements. Their performance in recent weeks has been underwhelming, with a record of 5-4, placing them in a shared third place in the LCS standings for the Summer Split.

Roster Changes: Santorin and Alphari

Alongside Jatt’s resignation, Liquid’s starting jungler Santorin will be stepping away from the roster due to personal health issues. To fill in for Santorin, the organization’s Academy jungler, Armao, will temporarily be part of the LCS roster.

Additionally, Liquid announced that their top laner Alphari will remain on a personal break until June 27. Jenkins will continue to start in the LCS until further notice. Alphari was benched due to performance and attitude issues after the team’s first game of the Summer Split.

According to Liquid owner Steve Arhancet, Alphari was going through significant health and family issues, which affected his motivation and enjoyment of playing League of Legends. The team’s decision was based on Alphari’s lack of contribution to the team’s goals and his own personal improvement.

Regarding Jatt’s future, the former Liquid coach’s successful track record of 46-23 games coached from 2020 to 2021 makes it likely that he’ll find other coaching opportunities in the LCS. However, his plans for the future are currently unknown.

New Head Coach Announcement

Team Liquid has appointed assistant coach Jonas “Kold” Andersen as the new head coach of the LCS team following Jatt’s departure. Kold will lead the team in their upcoming match against Evil Geniuses on June 25 in the fourth week of the 2021 LCS Summer Split.
