Jankos set to join G2 Esports for 2018: Report

Former H2K Gaming jungler Jankos close to joining G2 Esports

According to a report from ESPN, former H2K Gaming jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski is on the verge of signing with G2 Esports.

Jankos set to replace Trick at G2 Esports

Jankos will be taking the place of former G2 Esports jungler Kim “Trick” Gang-yun, who recently joined LCK team bbq Olivers in the offseason along with former Misfits support Lee “IgNar” Dong-geun.

H2K’s contract clause expires, allowing Jankos to join G2 Esports

Reports indicate that H2K had a first refusal clause in Jankos’s contract, which ended on Nov. 20. This means that H2K could match any offer Jankos received from other teams to re-sign him for the 2018 season.

G2 Esports agrees to pay undisclosed sum to secure Jankos

However, G2 Esports reportedly agreed to pay H2K Gaming in order to waive their right of first refusal, ensuring a smooth transfer for Jankos.

Jankos spent over two years with H2K Gaming, reaching the semifinals of the 2016 World Championship before falling to Samsung Galaxy 3-0.

Joining Jankos at G2 Esports will be former Splyce top laner Martin “Wunder” Hansen, as well as Roccat’s bottom lane duo Petter “Hjarnan” Freyschuss and Kum “Wadid” Bae-in.

Only Luka “PerkZ” Perkovic remains from the original G2 roster for the upcoming season. G2’s bot lane of Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen and Alfonso “mithy” Aguirre Rodriguez have joined NA LCS team TSM, while top laner Ki “Expect” Dae-han was not re-signed by the organization.
