Jankos Reveals G2’s Lane Swap Motivation: Caps’ Determination to Outplay Rekkles in Bot Lane

G2 Esports Reveals Reason Behind Role Swap in League of Legends

G2 Esports’ pro player Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski recently addressed the reason behind the team’s role swap in an exclusive Twitch stream. Jankos confirmed that the decision was sparked by Rasmus “Caps” Winther’s desire to compete against his former teammate, Martin “Rekkles” Larsson, in the bot lane.

In the stream, Jankos mentioned that Caps had previously left Fnatic, leaving the team saddened by his departure. However, Caps managed to defeat Rekkles, despite not playing in the same role as the AD carry. Now, according to Jankos, Caps wants to compete against Rekkles once again, but this time, in the same role.

Earlier this week, G2 Esports teased a role swap, with AD carry Luka “Perkz” Perković and Caps playing together in solo queue, but in each other’s roles. Perkz returned to the mid lane, his former position, while Caps took on the role of AD carry. The video ended with a playful message from G2, hinting that the swap might continue into the 2020 LEC season.

Caps played for G2 throughout the 2019 LEC season alongside Jankos, who served as the team’s jungler. Previously, Caps was part of Fnatic, where he played with Rekkles for one season before making the switch to G2. Rekkles has been a player for Fnatic since 2015.

This role swap could mark the beginning of a friendly, or perhaps not-so-friendly, rivalry between Caps and Rekkles. However, for now, it seems to be all in good fun. While there is a possibility of more behind-the-scenes dynamics, there is currently no reason to suspect anything other than friendly banter between these two former teammates.
