Is TheShy the Greatest Top Laner in LoL History? He Has His Doubts

TheShy’s Chance to Make History in the Worlds 2023 Final

If Weibo Gaming manages to defeat T1 in the Worlds 2023 final on Nov. 19, TheShy could become the second top laner to win two Summoner’s Cups. While many believe that this achievement would solidify him as the best top laner in the world, TheShy disagrees.

The Difficulty of Measuring the Best Top Laner

During a press conference on Nov. 15, TheShy expressed the difficulty in quantifying the best top laner, considering it to be a passive role.

“Top lane is not a role that carries games, so even if I win the World Cup, I don’t think I would become the greatest top laner of all time. I don’t think you can discuss the concept of being the best top laner of all time,” he said.

TheShy’s Potential Era-defining Achievement

Only one top laner has ever won two World Championships before, and that is Duke. He won his first World Championship with SKT in 2016, and then claimed the same feat as Invictus Gaming’s substitute top laner in 2018. However, it is important to note that TheShy was IG’s starting top laner that year and is widely regarded as the driving force behind the team’s success.

Anticipation for a Historic Finals Clash

Sunday’s final will undoubtedly make history as at least one player will add another Worlds trophy to their name. Crisp, TheShy’s teammate, previously won with FPX in 2019. If Weibo emerges victorious, Crisp will become the third support player to claim two Summoner’s Cups, joining the ranks of Wolf and BeryL. On the other hand, if T1 wins, Faker will secure his fourth title.

Whatever the outcome may be, the final promises to be an exciting event. It will commence at 2am on Sunday, Nov 19. Make sure you don’t miss it!
