Invictus Gaming’s Owner Urged to Join Onstage Against Vici Gaming

Invictus Gaming Secures First Seed for Playoffs

Invictus Gaming has once again secured the top spot in the LPL for the second split in a row. With a 14-1 record and two matches remaining, the team is guaranteed the first seed for playoffs.

This accomplishment gives Invictus Gaming the flexibility to experiment with new strategies or give their main players a break. And it seems like they’ve chosen the latter option. As reported by Fomos and announced on their Weibo page, the team plans to substitute Wang Sicong at the ADC position in their upcoming match against Vici Gaming on August 19th. Wang Sicong, the son of the chairman of the Dalian Wangda Group and the owner of Invictus Gaming, purchased the team in 2011.

Unprecedented Move

The end of the competitive season is typically a time for role swaps and unconventional picks as teams relax. However, Invictus Gaming’s decision to bring in Wang Sicong as a substitute is quite extraordinary. While team owners like Andy “Reginald” Dinh of TSM used to play alongside their teams on stage, it has been years since an owner has made such a move.

Before Wang Sicong can take the stage, his application as a valid sub needs to be approved by league management. If accepted, he will replace star rookie Yu “JackeyLove” Wen-Bo. Whether Wang Sicong will play the full match or just one game has yet to be disclosed by the team.

Challenging Match Ahead

If Wang Sicong does end up playing, Vici Gaming can expect a tough fight. Although they are currently the weakest team in the league, facing an amateur player might be the opportunity they need to secure a win. The match is scheduled for Sunday at 1am CT.
