Introducing Winterfox, Formerly Known as Evil Geniuses

Winterfox: The New Name in League of Legends

Winterfox is the latest addition to the League of Legends community, with the team formerly known as Evil Geniuses adopting Winterfox as their new brand. The team has also finalized its 2015 League Championship Series lineup in anticipation of the upcoming Spring split.

The team has added two Korean players and a Korean coach, a logical choice after their month-long training session in Korea.

Shin “Avalon” Donghyeon will be in the top lane, with Jang “Imagine” Hyeonsu as the support. Due to “last-minute complications,” Nicolas “Gleeb” Haddad, who left Team Fusion today, will temporarily man the support position.

This adds two Korean players to a roster that already features Eugene “Pobelter” Park in mid lane, Johnny “Altec” Ru as the marksman, and Shin “Helios” Dong-jin in the jungle.

It is worth noting that the two Shins on the team are brothers. While Helios has had a successful pro gaming career in Korea, Avalon has struggled to make a name for himself in the highly competitive Korean scene. However, this could be Avalon’s opportunity to shine.

Winterfox’s new head coach, Choi “Paragon” Hyun-il, brings a wealth of experience from the Korean professional scene and a reputation as a talented teacher.

Winterfox has also secured backups for each position, a wise move considering the common visa issues and underperformance experienced by imported players in 2014.

The team was forced to rebrand due to Riot Games’ Sale of Sponsorship rule, which prevents an organization from owning multiple teams in the league. The new Winterfox brand represents the team’s youthful energy, familial nature, and cunning on Summoner’s Rift.

Overall, Winterfox seems well-positioned to build off the potential of their young stars and leave behind the mediocrity associated with Evil Geniuses League of Legends in the past year.
