Riot Games is shifting its focus to balancing ranked play in League of Legends, following the recent Mid-Season Invitational update. The game’s dev team has released a preview of the changes coming in the next update, Patch 13.9. Here’s what to expect:
Neeko Rework: Tricks and Transformations
One of the major highlights of Patch 13.9 is a rework for Neeko, the Curious Chameleon. This update aims to make Neeko a more versatile champion by allowing her to transform into characters, plants, minions, and more. These changes should make her a formidable force on the Rift in the latter half of the 2023 season.
Release Date
League of Legends Patch 13.9 is set to roll out on May 3, according to Riot’s patch schedule. The update will be deployed worldwide throughout the day, starting with Australia at around 10am (AEDT). Here are the patch rollout times for some major League servers:
- 3am PT (NA)
- 5am GMT (EU West)
- 3am CET (EU North East)
- 8am KR (Korea)
There will be several hours of downtime during the patch deployment, during which matchmaking and competitive queues will be disabled across all League servers.
Other Changes in Patch 13.9
Patch 13.9 includes smaller changes compared to previous updates. This is because the dev team is preparing for Patch 13.10, which they have described as the most significant patch of the season. The focus of Patch 13.9 is to make certain champions, like Neeko, more relevant and viable in the meta. The dev team is also working on changes for Kayle, including tweaks to her abilities and ultimate.
In addition, Sivir is finally getting an update after more than a decade, and the game is getting eight new Inkshadow skins, including a Prestige version for Yasuo.
