Insights on Sett, the upcoming champion in League of Legends

Riot Games Reveals Sett, the Newest Champion in League of Legends

Last month, Riot Games introduced Sett, the newest champion in League of Legends. Although there are still many unanswered questions about Sett’s release, we can piece together information from various clues provided by the developers to get a better understanding of the champion.

Who is Sett?

Sett has an interesting background. He is the son of a Noxian human father and an Ionian vastaya mother, which makes him a unique “half-beast boy.” However, due to his unusual origins and his father’s disappearance, Sett faced ridicule and taunts throughout his childhood. Determined to prove himself, Sett honed his fighting skills by battling his oppressors and eventually ventured into the fighting pits, hoping to find his father.

Sett discovered that his father had left the local ring to compete in more lucrative pits around the world. Fueled by rage, Sett vowed to become a better fighter and take control of the pits and those who ran them.

What are Sett’s abilities?

While the exact details of Sett’s abilities were initially unknown, Riot Games sent ability cards to select League fans, featuring images of existing champions being punched. These cards provided some insight into Sett’s fighting style but didn’t include detailed descriptions.

Now that Sett has been released on the League of Legends Public Beta Environment, players have a better understanding of his abilities. You can watch a video showcasing Sett’s ability tooltips here.

Sett’s Abilities:

Passive – Pit Grit: Sett’s basic attacks alternate between left and right punches, with left punches dealing normal damage. Right punches come out faster and deal bonus damage. If Sett doesn’t perform a right punch within two seconds of a left punch, he resets back to a left punch. Sett also gains additional health regeneration based on missing health.

Q – Knuckle Down: Sett gains movement speed when moving towards enemy champions and deals bonus physical damage based on a percentage of the target’s maximum health with his next two basic attacks.

W – Haymaker: Sett stores a percentage of the damage he takes as “Grit,” up to a cap. He can then consume this Grit to deal true damage or physical damage to enemies in a center line. Sett also gains a rapidly decaying shield based on the expended Grit.

E – Facebreaker: Sett deals physical damage and slows enemies on either side of him, with the potential to stun them if he manages to grab at least one enemy.

R – The Show Stopper: Sett grabs an opponent, carries them forward, slams them onto the ground, and deals physical damage. The enemy is also slowed for a duration, with reduced damage taken depending on their proximity to where Sett lands.

When will Sett be released on live servers?

Sett is scheduled to go live during the Patch 10.1 cycle, which was released on January 8th. Alongside the new Mecha Kingdoms skins, Sett is expected to be available in the client store on January 15th.
